SERVPRO Team Cuthbertson is here to help you recover from damages due to fire, water, mold, biohazard, and storm.
Experiencing a disaster in your home, whether it’s due to water damage, fire, or mold, can be incredibly overwhelming. Understanding the restoration process can help alleviate some of the stress and uncertainty that comes with these unfortunate events. Here is what to expect with SERVPRO’s professional restoration services.
Initial Contact and Assessment
As soon as you notice damage, it’s crucial to reach out to professionals who can help. When you call, our SERVPRO® intake and dispatch team will ask you a series of questions to assess the situation. This may include the type of damage (water, fire, mold), the extent of the damage, and whether there are any immediate hazards.
Once on-site, our team will conduct a thorough assessment of the damage. We will evaluate the affected areas and determine the best course of action. This initial inspection is critical for developing a tailored restoration plan.
Mitigation and Prevention
After the assessment, we can begin the mitigation process. This begins with taking immediate action to prevent further damage. If water damage is involved, we will use specialized equipment to remove water and dry the affected areas. This may include industrial-grade dehumidifiers, air movers, and moisture meters to ensure that all moisture is eliminated. Proper drying is crucial to prevent mold growth and further structural damage.
In the case of fire damage, our team will begin by securing the property to prevent further exposure to elements.
Cleaning and Sanitization
This involves removing any debris, soot, or contaminants from the affected areas. For fire damage, this may include cleaning smoke-damaged surfaces. In the case of water damage, items may need to be sanitized to prevent mold and bacteria growth.
Restoration and Repair
After cleaning, our SERVPRO team offers restoration and repair services. This can involve anything from minor repairs, like repainting walls, to major renovations, such as replacing flooring or drywall. Our goal is to restore your home to make it “Like it never even happened”.
Final Walkthrough and Follow-Up
Once the restoration work is complete, our team will conduct a final walkthrough to ensure everything has been addressed to your satisfaction. We will review the work done and answer any questions you may have.
Understanding the restoration process can make a challenging situation a little easier to navigate. By knowing what to expect at each stage, you can feel more assured and informed. Whether you’re dealing with water damage, fire damage, or mold, SERVPRO is always here to help.

Should You File an Insurance Claim After a Flood? Tips to Help You Decide
Experiencing a flood in your Florida home can be overwhelming, and one of the first thoughts that come to mind is filing an insurance claim. While it may seem like the logical step to cover the repair costs, it's essential to consider the potential consequences. In this blog post, we will provide three valuable tips to help you determine whether filing an insurance claim after a flood is the right decision for you. At SERVPRO, we understand the challenges you face, and we offer our expertise in water damage restoration to guide you through the process.
Determine the Type of Damage
When considering whether to file an insurance claim after a flood, it is crucial to examine the nature of the damage. Understanding the impact of your home flood claim on your insurance status is essential. If you are found to be at fault for the damage, it can have a significant effect on your rates. Additionally, insurance companies have different perspectives on specific types of damage claims. It is important to be aware that filing multiple claims for certain types of damage can increase the risk of policy non-renewal. Taking these factors into account will help you make an informed decision about whether to file an insurance claim after a flood.
Study Your Policy
Studying your insurance policy is of utmost importance to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is covered and what is not. Thoroughly reviewing the policy allows you to identify any potential gaps or limitations in coverage, helping you make informed decisions when it comes to filing a claim. It is equally important to be aware that different insurance companies may have variations in their claims handling procedures. This means that the way your claim is processed and the time it takes for a resolution may vary depending on the insurer. When seeking advice from an agent, timing is crucial. It is advisable to consult with your agent as soon as possible after an incident occurs to understand the steps you need to take and any documentation required. Additionally, discussing not filing a claim for recent damages with your agent can be beneficial. They can provide guidance on the potential impact on your future premiums and help you assess whether it is financially advantageous to file a claim or handle the damages out of pocket. Taking the time to study your policy and seek advice from your agent can greatly contribute to a smooth insurance experience.
Consider the Damage's Size
When considering the size of the damage, it is essential to weigh the cost of restoration efforts against potential insurance consequences. While filing an insurance claim may cover the expenses of restoring the damage, it is crucial to understand the risk of losing insurance coverage due to excessive claims. Insurance companies may view multiple claims as a higher risk, which could result in increased premiums or even cancellation of coverage. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the extent of the flood damage and carefully consider whether filing an insurance claim is necessary. If the damage is minimal and can be repaired at a reasonable cost, it may be more beneficial to handle the repairs independently to avoid potential long-term consequences with insurance coverage. Assessing the size of the damage and considering the potential insurance implications can help make an informed decision on the best course of action.
Deciding whether to file an insurance claim after a flood can be a challenging task. It's crucial to consider the nature of the damage, study your policy, and evaluate the size of the damage before making a decision. 5 Simple Feng Shui House Tips for 2022
12/5/2022 (Permalink)
For a hassle-free cleaning service, you can trust SERVPRO of Sanford to take care of your home while you are enjoying the festivities of the New Year.
The year 2022 is looking to be more hopeful and the New year marks a new beginning, and people want to attract good luck for the coming year. Some people believe that following Feng shui practices can bring good luck to their lives and homes.
So, what is Feng shui, and why do people follow it? Feng shui is an ancient Chinese art of arranging buildings, objects, and space in an environment to achieve harmony and balance. The word Feng shui means “the way of wind and water” which links a person’s destiny to their environment. Thus, to achieve greater harmony and balance, you should decorate your home in a way that you tap the positive “chi” energy from wind and water through the right placement of things in your home. Not only that but harmony in the home can also be achieved through an organized and clean home. Be sure to contact a cleaning service to ensure that your home is New Year-ready.
As the New Year approaches, many people tap their friendly neighborhood Feng shui experts to provide them with the best Feng shui tips for the coming year. However, if you don’t know any Feng shui experts, we have a list of simple tips on how to attract good luck for 2022 through Feng shui:
- Get rid of clutter in your home
Yes! Feng shui is not only about putting furniture in the right place but attracting wealth and good luck begins in a clean and clutter-free home. It also opens up the space for the positive “chi” energy to enter your home. In addition to planning holiday parties, gift shopping, and cooking dinners, cleaning can be stressful and time-consuming. Good thing, a cleaning service like SERVPRO of Sanford can be your lifesaver this New Year.
- Follow proper furniture placement
Do not put any furniture such as sofas or chairs with their backs facing the doors of rooms in your house. Also, you need to ensure that the furniture placement is not impeded by obstacles to room access.
We would want to achieve an open space that will bring abundance to your home. Also, avoid putting too much furniture in one room. This is to promote an airier room rather than making it a crowded space. Lastly, in the kitchen, the sink and stove should also not be placed opposite each other.
- Let light go through your home
Natural light brings a sense of peace and harmony to any home. Letting it enter your home through wide open windows and light-colored curtains can bring in more positive energy around. It is also a good way to take in that much-needed Vitamin D.
- Bring plants into your home
Even though you don’t have a green thumb, adding indoor plants to your home decorations can provide a fresh kind of energy that will bring a sense of calmness and harmony. Choose more rounded leaf plants or those kinds that bring good luck such as bamboo and palms. Avoid those that stink like cacti and flowers with thorns such as roses.
- Maintain fresh and perfect hygiene in your home
Keeping your home in a pristine condition is important not only for Feng shui but it can also give that refreshing look to the guests you will be entertaining in your home for the holidays. Simple things like cleaning the air ducts and carpet cleaning can go a long way to make sure that the air that flows in your home is invigorating and brings positivity.
